Continuing this Advent on the Names of Jesus, Lamb of God. One of the first Bible verses I memorized was John 1:29... Behold the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world"...
This is a wonderful teaching tool for children.
In the Old Testament, the Child of Israel were required a perfect sacrifice as forgiveness of their sins, a lamb innocent and without blemish. But God's justice and God's love combined for the most perfect Lamb, Jesus Christ. . and this man Jesus, was totally man , totally God, innocent of sin, without blemish and he became our sacrifice.... for the forgiveness of sin so we might enter in to God's perfection... once this Lamb was sacrificed on the cross, those who are called are sin free in the eyes of God. Once for all, our sins are paid if we believe in our hearts and confess with our mouths that Jesus Christ is Lord..... our Lamb... (Romans 10:9)
Saturday we were able to watch the God given earthly illustration to this perfect love with the wedding of Molly and Trent, a dear sweet girl I have known since she was 4. It was beautiful and marriage sermon was beautiful in declaring Christ's love for us.
Tomorrow I hope to have a lamb craft up to go with this lesson, in the mean time.. even a young child can memorize John 1:29... ( Hid the Word in their hearts!)
