Before I launch into my shrimp roll rant.... I thought I would share my latest finish... not blocked yet, a gift for my Ky niece...
The pattern is the Millie Cardigan from Alicia and was such an easy pattern to follow. The yarn is Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino I can not say enough good things about this yarn... it felt so good to work with! I know the picture of the sweater isn't that great, but I took it with my phone, in a hurry... that's kinda how I roll.. This pattern is also on Ravelry and Alicia's notes are great on it.
On to the shrimp roll..
So last July, we took a day trip to the coast ( benefit of NC living), and we ate the BEST Shrimp Rolls... like a lobster roll, but with fried shrimp, a sauce, in a bun.... delicious!
So I expected this:
On my behalf, I had worked , driven 3 hours, was excited to see Jamie, Emily and Jake, plus visit with Emily's Mom, Alpha who I do not get to visit with much.... so the name of the restaurant JJ Wasabi's
should have registered in my brain, but it didn't... and Jamie was so wonderful about it all...
I ate most of it without the seaweed wrap and it actually was good, although I couldn't think about the raw food part... and we also had a pork dumpling and a salmon roll... and so it did work out...
but you know, it made me laugh to myself about word usage...and I am very proud of myself, the ecoli nazi, at trying something new...Jamie has always challenged me in that department...and my reward was 2 days with this snuggly fella
