Today was my day off. We were up a bunch during the night... seems Lincoln has ear mites so at some time around 3:30 a.m. Chris was cleaning out his ears and I was heating olive oil to the right temp. Sort of reminded me of having children again.
Chris headed out early and I caught a bit of extra sleep.
Sipped tea, prayed for my children and husband, caught up on the latest on the net .
Cleaned both bathrooms, washed hung and dried ..AND put away 3 loads of laundry. Not sure if I have mentioned we ahven't owned a dryer in about 4 years. Our clothes are either dried on a large Amish drying rack inside or on a pulley line outside............or the fence gets the over flow...
Deep cleaned the laundry room, which included the cat box...the cats are spending more time inside as the days get cooler... woke to temps in the 50's this a.m. All the animals were fed
I spent a bit of time outside with the dogs soaking up some sunshine. checked on teh kale that is the only thing really growing besides the tomatoes which have just a few days to ripen before a frost...
Cleaned the jars and pressure canner from yesterday. 4 jars of beef stew and 3 jars of chicken stew. We had the beef last night and it was delicious! Tonight we had bacon wrapped chicken breast, but in a moment of insanity I bought turkey bacon... it was good.... not great.... we also had potaoes fried wiht onions and peppers, and broccoli.
Finally I got the box sorted of things to take to Harbor House, the local thrift shop that supports the battered women's shelter. Worked on a Christmas present while listening to "Decoded". Along with no dryer, we also do not have television... hence, we have no cable...we really don't miss it. Any programs we watch off the laptop . We just can not justify the money ...
My new ice cream flavor was Rockin Blondies.
Butterscotch, toffee, good but not the kinda good where I eat the whole container in one sitting.
Oh, and if you take ANY ice cream coupon to a B&J's on Tuesday's you get a free ice cream scoop.
For some reason I forgot to mention this wonderful gift I got in the mail last week
My friend Elaine, who now lives in Colorado, but use to live in NC and before that PA ( there was an IL in there too...and I am very sure originally from NY.... but I digress, when she was in the NC part of all this living she would head to PA and bring us back pretzels,Lebanon balogna, and.... wilbur Buds ( you can read about them HERE. So periodically I'll randomly recieve a pkg that states : "this buds for you" and then I can eat my little heart out in Wilbur Buds.... pure bliss... and thanks again Elaine!!
Took a walk with Chris and Lincoln and now we are settled in for the evening... I think I will do a bit of stitching this evening and listen to more of Decoded..
I hope and pray you all have a fine day.... all day long!
