So many different things make up our days....
- This is the first time in 18 years we haven't homeschooled. I still take a peek at homeschool blogs from time to time. I dunno why. Perhaps to remember... ~sigh~ anyhow, Dell has written an excellent post on "Looping". We used Charlotte Mason and had great results looping with Josh and Christopher. Perfect for youngers or energetic boys. hard to believe the doors of our own "End of the Road " school are closed. It was such a great time and I would do it all over again. a dear friend wrote " we are not empty nesters, simply open nesters waiting to see who God brings to our homes to nurture".
2. Amanda @ soulemama wrote an excellent post on putting food by. One of the websites recommended was Putting By I spent a good hour with a glass of ice tea visiting with blog. so many good ideas and recipes. After reading Amanda's blog, on a hunch, I called Huck's the apple orchard near my mom. Sure enough they have apples in and since we are headed that way for Labor day its on our list of to do's.... I see some applesauce and pies in our future.
3. I crocheted one of these little angels for my cousins little girl Elizabeth.. here is an excerpt of an email from my aunt.
They thought it was Kawasaki disease, but after the lumbar puncture was negative, they had to search further. It is scalded skin disease. The doctor has seen only 3 cases of this and one was in Africa. She had an ear infection and the bacteria became a super bug and attacked the skin as toxic. She is literally shredding all her skin, even in her hair. It is like having a burn over 100% of the body and she will need to regrow all new skin. Donna and Mike have been staying with her in the PICU at Rainbow Babies and Childrens' Hospital since Fri....
Elizabeth has a twin brother Joe that misses her very much. Please pray for her and her family.
continue to pray for Becky Black, the news from last weeks post on Isaac is good. He is recovering nicely.
4. Tomorrow our fall garden goes in the ground. collards, broccoli, spinach... the seed store dumped a 1/2 scoop of radish seeds in our spinach mix. apparently it repels insects if you plant the two together... I am looking forward to seeing how that works.
... taking on the garden in 99 degree heat will be a work out........but worth it when we are continuing to eat from the garden in the fall and winter...
eat health, remember to pray AND praise, and have a find day..........all day long!
