WHAT WAS SUPPOSE TO HAPPEN
we woke up early enough to have our hot beverages together and a bit of time for Chris to go over the songs he had chosen to share with our friends at The Carpenter's Shoppe this morning. We'd pack up the car and drive the 20 minutes or so and spend the next few hours in worship, prayer & fellowship with folks we care about so much... meeting new folks and basically having a good old time.... we would then make our way to Raleigh to Chris' parent's house where the guys would visit for the afternoon and MIL and I would drive to Cary to attend Baby E's shower. My gift was wrapped in all sorts of wondefulness and I looked forward to a couple of hours of baby shower goodness before Mom Sue and I left to join up with the menfolk once again for a nice dinner out...arriving home we would finish up the chores to prepare for the new week , watch another episode of Lost, and fall into our comfy bed satisfied with a good day.....
WHAT REALLY HAPPENED
... we did manage to get up and enjoy the teapot and french press together..and the male child even rolled out of the sack with relative ease... The songs for worship were practiced, guitar polished, I grabbed the baby gift and my teacup and filled it to the brim for the ride to Creedmor...
Chris was at the car... Christopher behind me with the guitar... the animals lined up on the deck waiting for the good bye pats, looking I might add, very cute... The last pat went to Chuck who was at the top of the two stairs leading from the deck to the yard......
the next thing I know I am flat on my face staring at the grass and pavers with the whole cup of tea flung every where including on me and my hair... the most wonderfully wrapped gift was askew, my purse flung to the side... a shoe off.. and a dreadful but not horrible pain in my wrist and knee... My hose were torn, my dress dirty, my hair wet and sticky and blood was appearing. The guys helped me into the house where I sat in the bathroom and cried for 30 minutes while Chris called his mother and Christopher rounded up my things and began to cook food ( I swear that's his cure all... I must admit the keilbasa / rice dish did help)...
I took and 800 ml ibprophen left over from my surgery and assessed the damage.
1 twisted ankle
1 extremely sore toe
1 very very banged up knee
1 scraped elbow
1 pretty bad bruise on the palm of my hand
1 most wonderfully wrapped gift that will have to be rewrapped ( there was a discussion on if the boo-boo bunny should be put in use but we decided against)
1 bad patch of poison ivy that has nothing to do with the previous accident
1 ruined cup of hot tea
1 extremely horrible wicked bad ( as the yanks would say) wounded pride
..an afternoon of feet up , hot tea, good reads & powdered donuts and I am feeling much better...I'll be sore for a few days I'm sure and I'm sure I'll be moving at a s-l-o-w pace...
Keep your feet planted firmly on the ground...pray for the troops...and have a fine day...all day long!!
