Miss Me??
I didn't realize until our buddy Ben emailed me that it had been 4 days since I had posted... things have been so busy around here...
Friday night I had the honor of going to a special showing of A Thousand WOrds: Photographs by Vietnam Vets opening at the NC Museum of History . This exhibit was invitation only and I must say I was in awe of being included in such company. The photos hung at the exhibit were not those of photo journalist, but of soldiers, drafted to serve their country and fight a war many didn't understand in conditions that were deplorable. The brains behind the exhibit
Martin Tucker, is a very talented Vietnam Vet who collected the photos and stories buried for years in the hearts and shoeboxes of the Vets. We had a few moments to meet with him after he spoke and you could feel the passion behind his work.
Many of the vets who contributed were there and it was a pleasure being able to say thank you.... the food was very pretty
..but we felt like a nice dinner out was in order.... so Patti, Bethann and I headed to Bogarts ...after looking through the exhibit with more then a few tears...
..
... Up early on Sat. to pick up Jesse and Dawn and work the booth for the USO
... After losing the first batch of balloons, we finally got things settled...
we had so much fun talking to veterans all day.. some had great stories..one fellow was 75 years old and had served in Pakistan in 1958 spying on the Russians... I never knew... !
.. Jesse was a big help
mental note... never stand next to anyone 45 lbs lighter then you....
... 20 more days......
.. Pray for the troops...and have a fine day... all day long...
