Still eating turkey????

Thanksgiving_005  I have had a few emails asking about our Thanksgiving Day feast.  we celebrate at Mom & Dad in laws. Its something we all look forward to as much as Christmas I do believe.
...We use my hubby's great grandmother's china on the table ( I am the proud owner of one of the plates!!!), and my BIL Josh's pine cone turkey graces the table.  This year the neighbor's had sent a beautiful centerpiece as a thank you for what my in laws do for them through the year.  Good neighbors ARE something to be thankful for!!

..My mom in law made turkey & ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing ( it was so delicious I might ask her to do a guest post on it before Christmas),homemade applesauce, pumpkin pies & cheese ball and crackers.

I made crescent rolls & corn bread  Christopher made fruit whip which didn't make it to the table...

Laura made a broccoli casserole, Emily made green bean casserole & Jeremy & Heather brought tea...

...I hope I'm not forgetting anything because it was all delicious!

Each year we do something special before the meal.  One year my husband read scripture, we tell what we're thankful for, one year we took turns reading select scripture.  This year at each place was a rolled up music score of the hymn  We Gather Together   The words and history were very fitting. Originally we were to sing the first verse, but we decided to sing the whole thing...I am so glad we did!  Our voices singing praises in one accord... truly something to be thankful for.

We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing;
he chastens and hastens his will to make known;
the wicked oppressing now cease from distressing:
sing praise to his Name, he forgets not his own.

Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining,
ordaining, maintaining his kingdom divine;
so from the beginning the fight we were winning:
thou, Lord, wast at our side: all glory be thine!

We all do extol thee, thou leader triumphant,
and pray that thou still our defender wilt be.
Let thy congregation escape tribulation:
thy Name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!

what a beautiful table and it sounds like you had a wonderful feast.

What a wonderful table setting (and I'm sure the food was even more wonderful!). We always either sing that same song or sometimes we read the words to it - it's my hubby's favorite part of Thanksgiving!
Did you sing it a copello or have instruments or CD?
